TIMELINE

In January 2010, the first Peruvian issue of China Today was officially published and an office was established in Lima, Peru.

In March 2010, Expo Weekly, with three editions of Chinese, English and Japanese, was launched by CICG.

In September 2010, the first Turkish issue of China Today was published in Ankara, Turkey.

In September 2011, China International Book Trading Corporation and Amazon launched the China Books project.

In March 2012, Beijing Review established an African branch in Pretoria, South Africa.

In December 2012, the Center for International Communication Studies released its first survey report on China's national image.

In July 2014, the China Academy of Translation was founded.

In September 2014, "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China" was published by FLP under CICG in Chinese, English, French, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Japanese. In January 2018, the book was revised, renamed "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China I" and reissued by FLP in Chinese and other languages.

In September 2014, CICG and Japanese think tank Genron NPO signed an agreement in Tokyo on co-hosting the Beijing-Tokyo Forum for the next decade (2015-2024).

In May 2015, Xi Jinping presented a Hindi edition of "Buddhist Records of the Western World," reedited and republished by FLP, to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

In June 2015, the first Portuguese issue of China Today was published in Sao Paulo, Brazil, making it the first Portuguese-language magazine published by China in the country.

In September 2015, the first English issue of China Report ASEAN was published by the China Report Periodical Office.

In December 2015, a special issue of the ChinAfrica magazine for the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) was published in South Africa. Chinese President Xi Jinping and South African President Jacob Zuma both sent congratulatory messages on the publication of the special issue.

In January 2016, China-India Dialogue published by China Pictorial was launched at the New Delhi Book Fair in India. 

In January 2016, a special Arabic issue of China Today commemorating the 60th anniversary of China-Egypt ties was published, and a launch ceremony was held in Cairo, Egypt. Chinese President Xi Jinping and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi both sent congratulatory messages on the publication of the special issue.

In May 2016, Russian and Kazakh issues of the Belt & Road Outlook, China's first foreign-language magazine themed around the Belt and Road Initiative, were published.

In June 2016, the world's first Chinese book center was jointly established by CICG and SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

In October 2016, multiple language editions of "Keywords to Understand China," compiled by the China Academy of Translation, were launched at the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany. 

In October 2016, CICG and the Indian publisher GBD Books founded the world's first overseas editorial office for China-themed books in New Delhi, India. 

In September 2017, the Center for International Communication Studies was renamed the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies.

In November 2017, the second volume of "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China" was published by FLP in Chinese and English both at home and abroad. 

In April 2018, a launch ceremony for multi-language versions of "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China Vol. II" was hosted in London by the SCIO, CICG and the Chinese Embassy in the U.K.

In February 2019, Xi Jinping replied to a letter from William N. Brown, the author of "Off the Wall: How We Fell for China" published by FLP and a professor in the School of Management at Xiamen University, congratulating him on publication of his new book.

In March 2019, Chinese President Xi Jinping, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker attended the closing ceremony of the China-France Global Governance Forum co-organized by CICG and delivered an important speech. 

In June 2019, Xi Jinping replied to a letter from Daichi Nakashima, a prizewinner in the Panda Cup Japan Youth Essay Contest hosted by People's China, expressing his hope for young people in China and Japan to contribute to creating an even brighter future for bilateral relations.

In September 2019, Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to CICG honoring its 70th anniversary. In the letter, he fully recognized CICG's achievements and the roles it has played over the past seven decades, and called on it to strive to be a world-class international communication institute with comprehensive strengths.
