TIMELINE

In October 2000, the China Internet Information Center (CIIC) was established.

In October 2003, the State Commission Office for Public Sector Reform approved the establishment of CICG National Translation Test and Appraisal Center. 

In January 2004, the CICG Center for International Communication Studies was established.

In July 2004, CICG sponsored the 89th World Esperanto Congress in Beijing. 

In October 2004, the Lantin American branch and the Middle East branch of China Today were established in Mexico City in Mexico and Cairo in Egypt. China began to directly publish and distribute localized foreign-language periodicals overseas.

In June 2005, the North American branch of Beijing Review was established. 

In December 2005, the Moscow branch of China Pictorial was established.

In April 2007, CICG Chinese Periodical Center was established.

In June 2006, Chinese President Hu Jintao and President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf both penned inscriptions for a special issue of Beijing Review commemorating the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan.

In August 2008, the 18th International Federation of Translators World Congress, organized by the Translators Association of China, was held in Shanghai, marking the first time the event was held in Asia.

In March 2009, Sinolingua established a branch in London.

In December 2009, Hu Jintao delivered a congratulatory message for the first issue of the English monthly magazine ChinAfrica, which was also a special issue on the Fourth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
