The Guangxi leg of the "Together on the Long March: 90th Anniversary of an Epic Journey" CICG International Communication Project recently took place in Guilin city, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. The event brought a diverse group of Chinese and international participants, including senior foreign experts, youth representatives from ASEAN countries, overseas think tank scholars, and descendants of Red Army soldiers.

The event, under the auspices of China International Communications Group and co-hosted by China International Publishing Center and the Information Office of the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, was held to mark the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army's Long March.

On June 24, CICG President Chang Bo met with an international group of guests participating in the event at the Hengzhou Guild Hall in Xing'an county, which served as the temporary command headquarters during the Battle of the Xiangjiang River, a major battle during the Long March.

During his exchanges with the guests, Chang said that 92 years ago in Guilin, the Red Army made great sacrifices to break through the Kuomintang's blockade along the Xiangjiang River, laying an important foundation for the final victory of the Long March.

Speaking of the goals of the international communication project, Chang said that launched by CICG, the project is aimed at telling the stories of the Communist Party of China (CPC) well to the world. Under the leadership of the CPC, the Chinese people established the socialist system, carried out reform and opening up, and in the new era, eradicated absolute poverty. Chang said he hopes that through firsthand visits, the guests can create influential works of international communication, showcasing the historical mission and sense of responsibility of the CPC.

Chang said that the project also seeks to help the world gain a better understanding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), which serves not only as a strong pillar for safeguarding national security and the people's well-being, but also as a steady force for defending world peace. He expressed hope that, through a deeper understanding of the PLA's history and mission, the guests will present to the world the Chinese PLA as a capable force committed to justice, peace, and safeguarding national sovereignty.

In addition, the project aims to enhance international understanding of the Chinese nation, Chang added. He said he hopes the guests will gain a deeper appreciation of the great spirit of the Chinese nation and help the world better understand the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity and the common values of humanity — peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy, and freedom.

The Guangxi event was part of the "Together on the Long March: 90th Anniversary of an Epic Journey" CICG International Communication Project, which was launched on June 15 in Yudu county, Jiangxi province.
