China Esperanto League

Founded on March 11, 1951, the China Esperanto League (Ĉina Esperanto-Ligo) is the only national academic association of Esperanto speakers in the country. It is also China's first national social organization. It is responsible for planning, coordinating, contacting, serving and guiding the country's Esperanto work, and is dedicated to bringing together the country's Esperanto speakers, and promoting the promotion, study, research and academic exchange of the language.

By improving the linguistic ability of China's Esperanto speakers, promoting the language's application and organizing global exchange events, the league aims to make contributions to China's reform and opening-up, its modernization and world peace via Esperanto. It is composed of five departments in the fields of youth, teachers, economy and trade, medicine, and rail transit, connecting Esperanto speakers across the country.

In 1980, the league joined the Universal Esperanto Association (Universala Esperanto Asocio) as a group member. The league held the 71st and 89th World Esperanto Congress in Beijing in 1986 and 2004, respectively, which were attended by over 2,000 Esperanto speakers from over 50 countries.
