CICG launches 'Islamabad: The Biography' in Beijing

The Chinese edition of "Islamabad: The Biography" was launched at the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing on Sept. 9.

Yu Yunquan, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), said that China-Pakistan friendship has remained rock-solid over the past 75 years. The book, published by Foreign Languages Press under CICG, embodies the mutual understanding and affection between the two peoples. 

Yu expressed hope that the book would enable readers to discover the unique charm of the blend of tradition and modernity in Islamabad and gain a deeper understanding of the enduring friendship between China and Pakistan. 

He added that CICG hopes to use the publication as an opportunity to expand cooperation with Pakistani partners in publishing, media, translation, and think tank research, and to further promote people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Khalil Hashmi, Pakistani ambassador to China, said that the launch of "Islamabad: The Biography" coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, making the occasion especially meaningful. Islamabad, he said, is not only Pakistan's capital but also an important symbol of the country's national identity and cultural legacy. 

The book presents Pakistan's long history and rich cultural heritage, and reflects the profound friendship between Pakistan and China, he said. He expressed hope that more Chinese readers would gain a deeper understanding of Islamabad and Pakistan through the book, thereby strengthening friendship between the two countries.

The book is part of the "Biographies of Silk Road Cities" series, which focuses on cities in countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. More than 70 city biographies have been published so far.
