Pakistani delegation visits CICG to advance media, think tank cooperation

On Sept. 3, Chang Bo, president of China International Communications Group (CICG), met with a visiting Pakistani delegation led by Shezra Mansab Ali Khan Kharal, head of the Committee for the China-Pakistan Information Corridor (CPIC), minister of state for climate change and environmental coordination, and a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan. The delegation also included Mustafa Hyder Sayed, executive director of the Pakistan-China Institute and a member of the Committee for the CPIC. Li Yafang, deputy editor-in-chief of CICG and president of the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies (ACCWS), as well as representatives from CICG's Department of International Cooperation and ACCWS, attended the meeting.

Chang said that over the 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China-Pakistan friendship has remained rock-solid and cooperation has continued to deepen. Frequent high-level exchanges this year have further strengthened bilateral ties and injected new momentum into the relationship. Chang said CICG stands ready to establish a long-term cooperation mechanism with the Committee for the CPIC and deepen cooperation in media, publishing, think tanks, and people-to-people exchanges, leveraging its multilingual, multimedia, and multiplatform strengths. The two sides will also work to better share stories of China-Pakistan friendship and bring the two peoples closer.

The head of the Committee for the CPIC spoke highly of CICG's work in international communication, cultural exchanges, translation and publishing, and think tank research. She said Pakistan and China cherish their unique iron-clad friendship and are committed to deepening bilateral ties and practical cooperation as they mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations. As the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor enters its phase 2.0, the two sides are expanding cooperation beyond infrastructure into areas such as agriculture, artificial intelligence, and people-to-people exchanges. She also noted that the CPIC is ready to serve as a bridge by building a positive narrative around bilateral cooperation and helping the public in both countries better understand its significance. It will also strengthen media collaboration and facilitate exchanges among opinion leaders.

During the delegation's visit, ACCWS and the Pakistan-China Institute jointly held a China-Pakistan think tank dialogue on the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the building of a China-Pakistan community with a shared future.
