CITBC hosts China-themed book fair in Australia

The 2026 China Themed Book Fair & Cultural and Creative Products Exhibition kicked off in Sydney, Australia, on Aug. 22. Organized by the China International Book Trading Corporation (CIBTC) under China International Communications Group (CICG) and the Oceania Cultural Communication Society, the exhibition features dedicated zones for books, cultural and creative products, and cultural experiences.

CIBTC organized 21 domestic publishers to participate in the exhibition, bringing together more than 1,000 publications and cultural and creative products. These works showcase the development achievements of contemporary China across various dimensions, covering culture, history, politics, economy, society, science and technology, art, local studies, and traditional Chinese medicine. A range of supporting activities, including new-book promotions, awards to children's artists, and book donations, were held throughout the exhibition.

During the exhibition, the Seminar on China Books Overseas Distribution and Copyright took place. The event drew around 50 guests, including heads of Australian industry bodies, publishers, and writers, who had in-depth talks on AI-related copyright protection and industry opportunities. Multiple China-Australia publishing cooperation agreements were signed during the seminar.

While in Australia, the CIBTC delegation visited the Consulate-General of China in Sydney to exchange views on the overseas dissemination of Chinese publications and China-Australia publishing cooperation. The delegation also held roundtables with Fisher Library at the University of Sydney and the Australian Publishers Association. Discussions centered on the current landscape of the China-Australia publishing market, prospective cooperation opportunities, and innovative collaboration pathways.
