CICG expands publishing exchanges in Peru and Panama

Recently, the China International Book Trading Corporation (CIBTC), a subsidiary of China International Communications Group (CICG), led a publishing delegation on cultural exchange engagements to Peru and Panama. The delegation took part in the 30th Lima International Book Fair, which ran from July 22 to Aug. 6.

At the China booth, CIBTC exhibited multilingual editions of China-themed publications, including "Selected Readings from the Works of Xi Jinping (Volumes I and II)" and "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China (Volumes I to V)." In total, more than 150 books were featured, covering topics spanning Chinese culture, history, economy, literature, education, and regional culture.

CIBTC also launched a special "Panda Island" zone, displaying more than 20 cultural and creative products, including replicas of ancient books, artistic bookmarks, and journals. 

During the book fair, the CIBTC-led delegation held in-depth exchanges with Peruvian publishing professionals. The team also met with Zhao Xiaoming, cultural counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Peru, to discuss China-Peru cultural exchanges, promotion strategies for Chinese books in the Peruvian market, and localized communication approaches.

In Panama, the delegation hosted an exhibition of China-themed publications and cultural products at the Confucius Institute of the University of Panama. The exhibition featured works in literature, art, Chinese language education, and traditional culture, drawing local readers, publishing professionals, as well as teachers and students from the Confucius Institute.

A concurrent China-Panama Literary Dialogue was held, where Mao Dun Literature Prize winner Xu Zechen exchanged insights on creative philosophies and the mission of literature with renowned Panamanian writer Carlos Fong.
