By Wang Xingguang   |    CICG, June 18, 2026

The awarding ceremony of the 19th Special Book Awards of China was held in Beijing on June 16, honoring 15 authors, translators, and publishers from 12 countries.

Among the recipients were Burkhard Risse, a German translator and revising expert at Foreign Languages Press under China International Communications Group (CICG), and Christopher Robyn, editorial director of Sinomedia International Group Inc. (San Francisco), also under CICG.

The award recipients have long followed China's development and devoted themselves to the study of Chinese culture. Through authoring, translating, and publishing books about China, they have helped convey China's voice to the international community, promote Chinese culture, showcase the country's image, and made outstanding contributions to people-to-people exchanges.

As the highest honor in China's publishing industry for foreign authors, translators, and publishers, the Special Book Awards of China have recognized 234 recipients from 67 countries since 2005.
