The Second Xizang International Communication Conference was held Tuesday in Lhasa, capital of southwestern China's Xizang autonomous region, under the theme "Understanding and Support, Empathy and Connection — Enhancing the Effectiveness of International Communication on Xizang-Related Topics."

Nearly 300 participants from China and abroad, including experts, media professionals, think tank scholars and industry representatives, attended the event to discuss innovative approaches to telling Xizang's stories to the world.

The conference featured a main forum, three thematic forums and a seminar on country- and region-specific communication.

The thematic forums focused on cross-cultural storytelling, international content co-creation and technology-enabled communication. Discussions explored strategies for fostering cross-cultural empathy, promoting two-way engagement and collaborative value creation in content production, and leveraging emerging technologies to improve communication effectiveness in the algorithm-driven era.

At the conference, participants delivered keynote speeches and exchanged views on topics such as the development of international discourse systems, innovation in cross-cultural narratives, analysis of overseas audience needs and the application of technology in content production.
