Also on March 10, New Star Press hosted a promotional event titled "Stories Without Limits: The 20-Year Journey of Midnight Library." Wang Huan, deputy editor-in-chief of New Star Press, said that over the past two decades, the Midnight Library series has published more than 830 works by over 100 internationally renowned authors.
The event showcased the growing international presence of China's mystery fiction. Organizers of the event also announced that works by well-known Chinese mystery writers Zhiwen and Hu Yanyun will be published in English by the U.K.-based publishing group Legend Times, a sign that China's original mystery fiction is beginning to enter the mainstream English-language market on a larger scale.
During the fair, Foreign Languages Press also showcased more than 1,000 publishing-themed cultural and creative products developed by over 60 Chinese publishing and cultural institutions. A dedicated "China Publishing Creative Products" section was also set up, highlighting how China's publishing industry is expanding beyond traditional publishing into cultural and creative merchandising.
The London Book Fair, founded in 1971, is a leading international book fair for rights trading and the world's second-largest event of its kind after the Frankfurt Book Fair. It is also one of the most important publishing industry gatherings in Europe each spring.
