CICG executives attend 2026 China-Russia Sanya Dialogue

The 2026 China-Russia Sanya Dialogue was held in Sanya, Hainan province, from March 3 to 4. Yu Yunquan, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks.

In his speech, Yu noted that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, mutual trust and strategic coordination between China and Russia have continued to deepen. CICG has long been committed to promoting exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in areas such as think tank research and media communication. He called on think tanks and media organizations from both sides to work together to advance closer strategic coordination, deepen people-to-people exchanges, and contribute wisdom and strength to maintaining global strategic stability and improving the global governance system.

In her closing remarks at the event, Li Yafang, deputy editor-in-chief of CICG and president of the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, said that China-Russia relations are widely regarded as a model of a new type of major-country relationship. Experts participating in the dialogue engaged in in-depth discussions on a number of key issues in a spirit of equality and openness, offering constructive proposals and practical approaches. The discussions, which she described as frank, pragmatic, and forward-looking, demonstrated the growing role of the China-Russia Sanya Dialogue as an institutionalized platform for exchange that helps promote the continued development of China-Russia relations. 

Looking ahead, she said continued efforts should be made to further develop the dialogue platform through thematic research across various fields, with the aim of producing more influential joint research outcomes.

During the event, the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, the Institute for China-America Studies, and the Beijing Club for International Dialogue jointly released a research report titled "Implementing the Global Governance Initiative: Concepts, Practices, and Communication of China-Russia Cooperation in Arctic Governance."

More than 40 experts and scholars from China and Russia, representing the fields of strategy, diplomacy, think tanks, media, and business, attended the dialogue. Participants reached a consensus on deepening China-Russia strategic coordination and practical cooperation, jointly implementing the Global Governance Initiative, and upholding true multilateralism.
