Dialogue on China-Laos community with shared future held in Vientiane
A dialogue on building a China-Laos community with a shared future was held on Feb. 5 in Lao capital Vientiane, bringing together officials and scholars from both countries to discuss ways to deepen cooperation and promote long-term development.

Yu Yunquan, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), noted that building a China-Laos community with a shared future is a shared vision and responsibility for both countries. He said CICG is ready to work with Laos and other partners to innovate communication approaches, expand platforms, and deepen cooperation to help translate the initiative into tangible results.

Chinese Ambassador to Laos Fang Hong said the dialogue, held ahead of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties, reflects both the continuation of long-standing friendship and a renewed effort to deepen bilateral relations. She said the principles of mutual respect, equality, and win-win cooperation remain central to advancing the China-Laos community with a shared future.

The event also marked the launch of the Lao-language edition of "Keywords to Understand China: New Quality Productive Forces." The publication explains China's development concepts and governance ideas, and aims to help Lao readers better understand China's path to modernization while promoting mutual learning between civilizations.

During a roundtable session, participants discussed cooperation projects including the China-Laos Railway, and agreed that it has helped reduce geographic barriers, strengthen links with regional and global markets, and support economic development and regional stability.

Separately, a book discussion on poverty alleviation was held on Feb. 6 at the National Library of Laos. The event aimed to foster exchanges and share experience in poverty reduction. Yu presented the Lao-language edition of "Up and Out of Poverty" to Samlane Luangaphay, director general of the National Library of Laos.
