Yu Yingfu, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), said in his remarks that, with the joint efforts of all parties, the ASEAN-China Friendship and Cooperation Short Video Contest has been successfully held for four editions, and it has grown into an important platform for China-ASEAN people-to-people exchanges and a reflection of the progress made in strengthening bilateral ties. He expressed gratitude to the organizers and participants and said that CICG will continue to work with all partners to improve the contest, tell stories of China-ASEAN friendship, and advance the China-ASEAN community with a shared future.

San Lwin, deputy secretary-general of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community, said that since its launch in 2020, the contest has provided a creative platform for people from China and ASEAN countries to share stories of friendship, solidarity, and shared aspirations through short videos. He noted that the fifth edition carries particular significance, as 2026 marks the fifth anniversary of the establishment of the China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership. He encouraged people from both sides to use cameras and mobile phones to capture stories of exchanges that transcend borders, generations, and cultures, and called on the public to work hand in hand to bring China-ASEAN friendship to a broader stage.

The contest invites short video submissions from people in China and ASEAN countries on themes related to China-ASEAN friendly cooperation. This year's contest features two main sections — Common Development and People-to-People Exchanges — as well as a special micro-drama section. Awards include gold, silver, and bronze prizes, dedicated awards for the special section, and excellence awards, with the top prize offering up to US$1,000. Award-winning works will be showcased on major China-ASEAN conference platforms.

Since its launch in 2020, the ASEAN-China Friendship and Cooperation Short Video Contest has attracted more than 90,000 submissions. The works have garnered over 95 million views on Chinese and international social media platforms, with related online topics generating nearly 300 million reads. By telling stories of friendly cooperation from the perspective of ordinary people, the contest has become a flagship event for China-ASEAN people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
