International communication collaboration conference held in Ningbo

The 2025 International Communication Collaboration Conference was held in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, on Tuesday. 

The event was hosted by China International Communications Group (CICG) and the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Zhejiang Provincial Committee. It brought together officials of publicity departments from around the country, representatives of universities, think tanks, enterprises, as well as senior executives of CICG to discuss ways to improve efficiency and collaborations of international communication.

Chang Bo, president of CICG, said in his speech that international communication collaboration with central government departments, local authorities, universities, research institutes, and enterprises is a key responsibility assigned to CICG by the central authorities.

He emphasized that CICG offers comprehensive communication strengths, including diversified global channels, cross-cultural content creation, international brand-building, and talent development.

Reviewing progress over the past year, Chang said CICG has assessed new opportunities and challenges in global communication, and proposed to better leverage its advantages to expand the reach of cultural brands and improve the effectiveness of coordinated and targeted international communication efforts.

Speaking at the conference, Guo Weimin, president of the China Public Relations Association, said that strengthening international communication is a strategic task of the Party and the country. He called for greater coordination among government agencies, media, universities, think tanks, enterprises, and social organizations. He also emphasized the role of leveraging technological innovation and strengthening public relations efforts in improving the quality and effectiveness of international communication.

Yu Hanyin, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and director of the Information Office of Zhejiang Provincial Government, noted that Zhejiang has rich historical and cultural resources, strong innovation capacity, and an open and green development philosophy. He said the province will work to build cultural exchange platforms, such as the Liangzhu Forum and the Hehe Culture Forum, to better share Zhejiang's story and China's development and governance with the world.

During the conference, CICG and its subsidiary agencies signed strategic cooperation agreements with the Hubei Academy of Social Sciences, Xi'an International Studies University, Jilin International Studies University, and the Publicity Department of the CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee.

In the afternoon, parallel seminars were held, during which participants held in-depth discussions on how to leverage distinctive strengths and enhance coordination to better serve the overall international communication agenda.
