In opening remarks, Gao Anming, editor-in-chief of China International Communications Group (CICG), said CICG has long worked to share China's poverty reduction and development experience globally. He called for building an open and inclusive knowledge platform, expanding data sharing, and using technologies such as artificial intelligence to support local decision-making. Gao also encouraged greater youth involvement in global poverty reduction efforts.

Carlos Watson, representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in China, delivered his remarks via video. He said global poverty is increasingly concentrated in rural areas, fragile states, and regions vulnerable to climate shocks. Most people living in extreme poverty remain dependent on agriculture, and transforming agrifood systems is essential to ensuring better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, Watson said.

Participants agreed that deeper international partnerships are critical for addressing global poverty. They highlighted the need for sharing practical experience, developing innovative cooperation models, and supporting the U.N. 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Representatives showcased successful poverty reduction strategies, highlighting China's agricultural technical assistance programs abroad, vocational training partnerships between eastern and western China, and international efforts to empower smallholder farmers.

During the event, the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC) and partner organizations released the Chinese and English editions of the "Global Poverty Reduction Case Series 2025." They also announced the recommended cases from the sixth Global Solicitation on Best Poverty Reduction Practices and launched the seventh round of submissions.

The sixth call for submissions, launched in October 2024, received 840 cases from 40 countries and regions, including Ghana, Kenya, Ethiopia, Laos, Indonesia, Brazil, and China. A joint review panel selected 108 recommended cases, focusing on sustainability, scalability, technical feasibility, and inclusiveness.
