15th China Esperanto Congress held in Shanxi

The 15th China Esperanto Congress was held in Taiyuan, Shanxi province, on Saturday. Yu Tao, vice president of China International Communications Group, attended the event.

Yu said China's global initiatives and the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity has created vast space for Esperanto's development.  

He called for greater efforts to expand the use of Esperanto through innovation and to strengthen the organizational capacity of the China Esperanto League. He encouraged the league to take the congress as a new starting point for promoting the high-quality development of Esperanto in China and for contributing to the global reach of Chinese civilization.

Liu Dawei, president of the China Esperanto League, emphasized staying true to the language's founding vision of equality and friendship, upholding peace and development, strengthening cultural dialogue, and deepening cooperation. He also stressed the need to consolidate research and teaching capacity, cultivate talent, and foster new drivers of growth for the Esperanto movement.

Fernando Maia, president of the Universal Esperanto Association, said via video that the congress' themes of cooperation and communication are deeply inspiring and fully aligned with the association's new strategic plan. He also congratulated the China Esperanto League on its achievements in recent years. 

The congress hosted a series of events, including meetings of the league's 11th council and thematic sessions for teachers, youths, and economic and trade representatives. New highlights this year included a book exhibition themed on understanding China, forums on the application of AI in global communication, and training sessions for young Esperanto professionals.

Created in 1887, Esperanto is an international auxiliary language designed to eliminate linguistic barriers and promote equality in global communication.
