Intangible heritage fashion show brings cultures together
"Orchids in Bloom: Sino-Foreign Intangible Cultural Heritage Fashion Show" was staged Sunday at the 798 Art Zone in Beijing during China Fashion Week.
As part of the Orchid Awards cultural exchange series, the event featured costumes with elements of Chinese intangible cultural heritage, including designs inspired by ethnic minority traditions.
Addressing the event, Yu Yingfu, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), said the show offered an opportunity to reinvigorate traditions through cultural innovation and reimagine intangible heritage as contemporary fashion icons.
Supported by Orchid Awards Secretariat and ASEAN-China Centre, the show drew about 500 guests, including ASEAN diplomats and fashion industry representatives, with an aim to promote cross-cultural dialogue through traditional attire.
