Yu Tao, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), attended the ceremony. He noted in his speech that China-Africa cooperation has entered a new phase. As members of the Global South, China and Senegal not only share common aspirations for development but also enjoy expanding opportunities for collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative. This spirit of cooperation is reflected in the media sector through exchanges in reporting practices, content sharing and co-production, and professional training, Yu said.

Habibou Dia, director of communication at Senegal's Ministry of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Affairs, spoke on behalf of the training program participants at the ceremony. He said that for many of the attendees, this was their first visit to China. The program provided a valuable opportunity for them to gain firsthand insights into the country's rapid development and governance approach. Dia said he hopes that future cooperation would extend beyond media to include agriculture, education, tourism, and other sectors, further advancing China-Senegal relations.

The 14-day program took place in both Beijing and Yunnan province, offering a mix of lectures, field visits, and immersive cultural experiences. It was designed to help participants better understand China's development through local models. As one of nearly 40 such sessions hosted by CICG's Institute of International Studies and Advanced Training, the program was part of a sustained platform for media exchange and mutual learning between China and Africa.
