'CPOP wave' Chinese pop culture IP night held in Hangzhou

The "CPOP wave" Chinese pop culture IP night, guided by China International Communications Group (CICG) and China Media Group, was held Wednesday in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.

Gao Anming, editor-in-chief of CICG, gave a speech and said that the innovative development of popular culture in China serves as a dynamic engine for revitalizing traditional culture, while its global influence reflects China's cultural confidence. He said the worldwide recognition of China's pop culture stands as a proof of shared human values.

Gao emphasized that pop culture IPs are reshaping the global narrative and international expression of Chinese culture from the perspective of Generation Z, enabling the world to decode Chinese culture through new trends, understand Eastern philosophy though empathy, and embrace shared human values through cultural resonance.

As part of the "CPOP wave" series of activities, the event unfolded around there themes: innovation inspired by Chinese traditions, China's presence on the global stage, and IP universes and full-industry chain development. Through diverse formats, including thematic shorts, IP showcases, and derivative programs, the event offered a panoramic view of the creative origins and global expansion of China's pop culture IPs.
