The top 10 news stories on cooperation between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2024 was unveiled Thursday in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

The highlights include: enthusiastic responses to the third plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee across ASEAN; Premier Li Qiang attending the 27th China-ASEAN Summit, the 27th ASEAN Plus Three Summit and the 19th East Asia Summit; high-level visits from Southeast Asian nations to China; the substantial conclusion of Version 3.0 China-ASEAN Free Trade Area upgrade negotiations; record-high bilateral trade; the success of the China-ASEAN People-to-People Exchange Year; progress in cross-border payment cooperation; accelerating connectivity projects; the launch of the Support Unit of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership; and the China-ASEAN Expo.

Gao Anming, editor-in-chief of China International Communications Group (CICG), said at the event that China and ASEAN are among the world's most dynamic regions and have strengthened ties by supporting each other despite rising global uncertainties. He suggested enhancing media collaboration and building a multifaceted communication landscape to increase awareness of China-ASEAN cooperation achievements, and promoting think tank exchanges and enhancing policy dialogue to provide a solid foundation for collaboration. Gao also called for boosting youth exchanges to motivate more young individuals to contribute to China-ASEAN friendship and regional prosperity.

More than 300 representatives from governments, universities, think tanks, media outlets, and other organizations of China and ASEAN countries participated in the event.

The event was co-organized by the Center for Asia-Pacific under CICG, the Institute of Asian Studies of China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU), and Guangxi University.
