CICG launches book center in Thailand

China International Communications Group (CICG) launched a China Book Center at Suratthani Rajabhat University in Thailand on Monday.

The year 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand. Wattana Rattanaprom, president of Suratthani Rajabhat University, noted that the university has collaborated with various Chinese institutions on academic research. He said that the book center will help Thai readers better understand China.

Gao Anming, editor-in-chief of CICG, emphasized the vital role of young people in promoting friendly exchanges between the two nations. He said the book center is designed to meet the increasing demand among Thai youth for Chinese books and to serve as a gateway for them to explore Chinese culture.
Gao also expressed hope that young people of both China and Thailand would contribute to cultural exchanges, innovation and collaboration, and peaceful development of the two countries.

Zhang Xiaorong, acting consul-general of the People's Republic of China to Songkhla, noted that the book center, established through collaboration between CICG, a major international communication institution in China, and Suratthani Rajabhat University, a prestigious Thai university, represents a significant milestone in China-Thai cultural cooperation.
He encouraged Thai youth to learn about China's development, form their own perceptions of the country through observation and experience, and become ambassadors for people-to-people exchanges.
During the event, CICG donated 1,000 books to the center, covering various topics including China's national conditions, traditional culture and socioeconomic development.

Additionally, Chinese and Thai youth shared stories and ideas about the relationship between their countries during a dialogue held alongside the event.
