2024 Forum on International Communication of Chinese Culture kicks off

The 2024 Forum on International Communication of Chinese Culture was held Tuesday at Beijing Language and Culture University. Experts from China and abroad, along with representatives from over 20 international communication institutions, attended the forum.

Du Zhanyuan, president of China International Communications Group (CICG), addressed the forum. He said that the Chinese civilization has achieved innovation and development through continuous interaction and integration with other world civilizations. He emphasized the importance of exploring and interpreting the contemporary value and global significance of Chinese culture, deeply understanding and handling the relationship between technology and cultural integration, practicing the concepts of civilization based on equality, mutual learning, dialogue, and inclusiveness, and leveraging the unique roles of literature and art in cross-cultural exchange.

Yao Zhichuan, vice president of the Academy of Chinese Culture, said at the forum that promoting Chinese culture requires maintaining cultural confidence, building a Chinese discourse system, innovating communication methods, and building a strategic communication system with distinct Chinese characteristics.

Yu Tao, vice president of CICG, presided over the remarks session. He said that since its inauguration in 2022, the forum has received tremendous support from various parties and has played an increasingly important role in bringing together diverse forces to promote the international communication of Chinese culture.

The forum featured eight seminars on topics including drama, poetry, academic research, science fiction, science and technology, and industry, exploring different pathways for the international communication of Chinese culture.
