CICG holds parallel session at 2024 Beijing Culture Forum

A parallel forum themed "Cultural Exchanges: Mutual Learning and Common Progress" was held during the 2024 Beijing Culture Forum in Beijing on Friday. Guided by China International Communications Group (CICG), the parallel session was co-organized by the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies under CICG and the Information Office of the Beijing Municipal People's Government.

Hu Kaihong, vice minister of the Central Office of Cultural and Ethnical Progress, said that in the face of the severe challenges in today's world, countries should join hands to build a wider bridge for exchange and cooperation, enhance cultural exchanges through technological means, and expand the avenues for mutual learning among youths, thus better promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding among civilizations.

Du Zhanyuan, president of CICG, said that countries should uphold common values to address the challenges faced by all humanity, build a platform for mutual learning, and emphasize technological empowerment to break down barriers to communication. 

CICG is willing to deepen cooperation with relevant institutions and insightful individuals from around the world, strengthen cultural exchange, facilitate cultural integration, and promote mutual understanding among people from various countries and backgrounds, thereby injecting profound and lasting cultural strength into the effort of building a global community of shared future, he said.

During the forum, the multilingual editions of "Keywords to Understand China: Relics and Cultural Heritage" were released. As the latest addition to CICG's flagship "Keywords to Understand China" book series, the booklets introduce China's iconic cultural heritage through 220 keywords.

More than 150 government officials, experts, scholars, and youth representatives from 21 countries and regions attended the parallel session. CICG Vice President Yu Yunquan presided over the session.
