Lao edition of 'Up and Out of Poverty' launched in Vientiane

The launch ceremony for the Lao edition of Chinese President Xi Jinping's book on poverty relief, "Up and Out of Poverty," and a subsequent China-Laos seminar on state governance were held in Vientiane, capital of Laos, on Sept. 4.
More than 150 people from governments, media organizations, and think tanks attended the event.

Du Zhanyuan, president of China International Communications Group (CICG), said the book delves into the philosophy and experience of China's poverty alleviation efforts, which provide an example for global poverty relief.
He said he hopes the Lao edition of "Up and Out Poverty" can inspire its Lao readers, thus contributing to the development and prosperity of the two countries and the improvement of people's well-being.

Fang Hong, Chinese ambassador to Laos, said the book is of great value that transcends time and space and will bring insights and ideas to its Lao readers.

Phosy Keomanivong, deputy minister of information, culture, and tourism of Laos, said Laos hopes to learn from China's experience on poverty alleviation and strives to find a path that suits Laos' own national conditions. He said this book is thought-provoking and inspiring and that he will recommend it to Lao government officials.

During the seminar, guests from both sides exchanged views on China's and Laos' experience related to state governance, with topics ranging from poverty alleviation to modernization.
The event was co-hosted by the State Council Information Office of China, CICG, and the Chinese Embassy in Laos.

The Lao edition of "Up and Out of Poverty" is collaboratively translated and published by Chinese and Lao publishing houses including Foreign Languages Press under CICG.
Prior to this, the book has been published in English, French, Spanish, Cyrillic Mongolian, Hausa, Swahili, and Uzbek.
