CICG launches global tea culture promotion initiative
A communication program for Chinese tea was launched Friday in Beijing, aiming to promote tea culture globally and advance the expansion of China's tea industry worldwide.

Guided by China International Communications Group (CICG) and organized by the Center for International Cultural Communication under CICG, the event drew around 300 attendees, including government officials, representatives from international organizations, tea industry experts, business leaders, and domestic and international media.

Du Zhanyuan, president of CICG, noted the significant role of tea in advancing the Global Civilization Initiative, promoting Chinese culture globally, and fostering cultural exchange and mutual learning between China and other countries.
He also stressed the need to expand communication channels, leverage technology for innovation, and enhance the influence of Chinese culture through tea.

Guang Defu, permanent representative of China to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, said that the event would provide an important opportunity and platform to build international consensus, strengthen multilateral cooperation, and promote the sustainable development of China's tea industry.

Poornima Gunasekera, minister and deputy chief of mission of the Embassy of Sri Lanka to China, highlighted the role of tea in bridging cultures, noting the strong China-Sri Lanka cooperation in the tea industry. She said that tea has played an important role in fostering economic growth and cultural exchange between the two nations.

The launch ceremony unveiled a comprehensive global promotion plan for Chinese tea, designed to boost the international profile of tea culture and elevate the brand value of Chinese tea worldwide. The event also proposed to launch a special fund to promote Chinese tea culture, address industry challenges, and advance the global presence of China's tea industry.

Two panel discussions took place at the ceremony, focusing on "Heritage and Innovation: Defining the Identity of Chinese Tea Culture" and "Brand First: Bringing Chinese Tea to the World," and featuring inputs from cultural figures, regional tea brand representatives, and industry leaders.
