CICG expands global partnerships for publishing China-themed books
On June 19, China International Communications Group (CICG) signed agreements with publishing houses from China and abroad to strengthen international cooperation on publishing China-themed books.
A total of five publishing houses signed up to join the International Publishing Cooperation Mechanism for China-Themed Books, including Tianjin Publishing and Media Group, Hainan Publishing Group, Türkiye's Canut International Press, Brazil's Go East Brazil, and Spain's Lamolapress.
The signing ceremony, which took place in Beijing during the 30th Beijing International Book Fair, was attended by CICG Vice President Liu Dawei, former Vice President Lu Cairong, and representatives from the participating publishing houses.

In his address at the signing ceremony, Liu acknowledged the important role the International Publishing Cooperation Mechanism for China-Themed Books has played since its inception. He said that the cooperation mechanism has been instrumental in sharing Chinese stories and culture with a global audience. Through international publishing cooperation, CICG published 132 titles last year, exploring innovation on the content, forms, channels, and business models of publishing China-themed books overseas.
Liu said he hopes both domestic and international partners will continue to leverage the mechanism to further strengthen personnel exchanges, communication, and business cooperation. He called for more efforts on planning, translation, copyright trade, local publishing, and international promotion to boost cultural exchange and foster mutual learning among civilizations.

Evandro Menezes de Carvalho, president of Go East Brazil, said that the cooperation mechanism will help to strengthen ties with Latin American countries and provide Portuguese-speaking readers with quality books about China's history, culture, and society.

Ji Chuanbo, chief editor of Peking University Press, expressed his pleasure at joining the Center for Culture and Publishing of China-Latin America and the Caribbean collaborative mechanism. He discussed plans for publishing a series of books on Latin American history and culture, aiming to promote exchange and mutual learning between the two sides.

This year, Saudi Arabia is the guest of honor at the book fair. Publishing houses from Saudi Arabia joined the China-Arab Culture and Publishing Center of CICG during the event. In addition, several publishing houses from China, Brazil, Spain and Argentina joined the Center for Culture and Publishing of China-Latin America and the Caribbean collaborative mechanism.

The International Publishing Cooperation Mechanism for China-Themed Books, initiated by CICG in August 2019, aims to help the world better understand China and promote international publishing cooperation. It now includes 16 Chinese and 35 overseas publishing institutions. Together, they have built 81 overseas editorial departments for publishing China-themed books across 44 countries, with over 700 China-themed books published worldwide."
