China-Arab civilization dialogue held in Beijing

A dialogue on languages and China-Arab civilization was held in Beijing on Friday, attracting over 50 guests from government agencies, media organizations, and think tanks.

Gao Anming, editor-in-chief of China International Communications Group (CICG), attended the event and delivered a speech. 

Gao highlighted the close cooperation between CICG and the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center (ALC), noting the significant progress achieved through their collaborations.

In his speech, Gao proposed three initiatives to further promote cultural exchange between China and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). 

First, he emphasized the need for multilingual publishing to enhance mutual understanding between the people of both nations. Second, he suggested showcasing compelling stories through various cultural activities such as art exhibitions, reading seminars, and culture-theme lectures. Third, Gao stressed the importance of cultivating multilingual talents to facilitate mutual learning between the two countries.

Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, UAE ambassador to China, highly praised CICG's unique role in strengthening bilateral relations. 

He said that the UAE embassy in China would provide robust support to enhance cooperation between CICG and the ALC, aiming to foster a brighter future for both countries through dialogues and exchange.

Ali bin Tamim, director of the ALC, said that the UAE has been an active participant in the Beijing International Book Fair over the past decade and become one of the most frequently represented Arab countries at the event. 

He expressed a strong desire to deepen cooperation with CICG to further solidify the friendship between the people of both sides and to enhance bilateral cooperation.

During the discussion session, participants from both countries acknowledged that the two great civilizations have jointly protected global cultural diversity through mutual learning and cultural exchange.

The dialogue was co-organized by the Center for Europe and Africa under CICG and the ALC.
