2024 Strategic Communication Forum held in Fuzhou, Jiangxi
The 2024 Strategic Communication Forum was held in Fuzhou, Jiangxi province, from June 17-18.
Themed "Promoting Cultural Inheritance and Innovation for Better Telling Stories of China to the World," the event brought together government officials, foreign diplomats, and experts and scholars from think tanks, universities, and cultural and media institutions to discuss ways to present China to the world in the new era and deepen mutual learning among civilizations.

In his address to the opening ceremony, Du Zhanyuan, president of China International Communications Group (CICG), noted the importance of sharing Chinese cultural stories to foster mutual understanding between China and other countries. He said that CICG is willing to collaborate with domestic and international partners to tell stories of Chinese cultural development and human progress.

Lu Xiaoqing, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Jiangxi Provincial Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee, said at the opening ceremony that Jiangxi is committed to making its contributions to shaping a reliable, admirable, and respectable image of China. She called for effective use of Jiangxi's revolutionary, ecological, and ancient cultural resources to demonstrate the province's charm through cultural exchange.

Greek Ambassador to China Evgenios Dimitrios Kalpyris delivered a keynote speech at the forum. He said that cultural heritage protection serves as the foundation for achieving sustainable development. Recognizing the similar values and thoughts in Greek and Chinese civilizations, as well as historical connections between them, he called for enhanced cooperation in preserving intangible cultural heritage to contribute to peaceful global development and human progress.
Khamis Mussa Omar, Tanzanian ambassador to China, said in his keynote speech that China has a long history spanning several thousands of years, while Tanzania has a rich variety of cultural and natural resources. He expressed his hope that the two countries could seize the opportunities presented by the 2024 China-Tanzania Culture and Tourism Year to further boost relations and deepen exchange.

During the high-level dialogue on cultural exchange, participants shared experiences and insights on deepening mutual understanding between civilizations and extending the reach and appeal of Chinese culture.

The Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies under CICG released the Report on Chinese City International Image at the forum, which reviews the international image of 337 Chinese cities, providing valuable insights on ways to enhance Chinese cities' international influence.

In addition, the opening event witnessed the launch of "A Culture Thriving City of Fuzhou: International Communication Cooperation Program," aimed at better promoting Chinese culture and the culture of Fuzhou worldwide.

The forum also featured three parallel sub-forums on the international communication of Chinese-style modernization, Chinese cities, and traditional Chinese opera.
