During this visit, Du met with Joseph W. Polisi, president emeritus and chief China officer of The Juilliard School. Polisi received the Lifetime Honorary Award at the inaugural Orchid Awards in 2023. The awards were organized by CICG to honor foreign nationals and organizations that have significantly contributed to cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and the rest of the world.

Du praised Polisi's significant contributions to promoting arts education cooperation and exchanges between China and the U.S., adding that he is well deserving of the honor.

Du also expressed hope that Polisi and The Juilliard School would continue to support the Orchid Awards by recommending more qualified foreign nationals and institutions to participate, further promoting cultural exchanges between China and the U.S.

Polisi expressed his gratitude for the award from CICG, emphasizing that international cultural exchanges should become a common pursuit for all humanity.

Polisi donated his Orchid Awards prize money to Tianjin Juilliard, aiming to support the school's arts and teaching programs and further strengthen cultural exchanges between China and the U.S.

Founded in 2021, Tianjin Juilliard is the first overseas branch campus of The Juilliard School and the first institution in China to offer a U.S.-accredited Master of Music degree.
