Conference on foreign language education, international communication held in Hangzhou

A conference on foreign language education in universities and colleges and international communication capacity building was held Saturday in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.

Featuring four thematic forums and nearly 30 academic reports, the conference has brought together over 6,000 participants, including government officials, experts and scholars in foreign language education, as well as students and faculty of schools of foreign language studies. Wu Shixing, deputy director of the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, attended the conference.

The participants recognized the crucial role of foreign language education in sharing Chinese stories globally and enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of international communication. They emphasized the need for intensified efforts to advance foreign language education to bolster China's capabilities in international communication and support the development of new quality productive forces.

The conference was organized by the Center for International Cultural Communication under China International Communications Group (CICG), and hosted by Sinolingua Press also under CICG and the Zhejiang Provincial Steering Committee of College Foreign Language Education.
