In his speech, Du noted that the world is undergoing accelerated changes unseen in a century and showing new characteristics. He said that the widening development disparities and increasing security risks pose challenges to the international community. He also pointed out that some western countries are exacerbating these issues rather than fostering dialogue and cooperation.

Du said that China has proposed a number of important initiatives and proposals for global development and security in response to these challenges, contributing Chinese wisdom to solving the pressing problems in global governance.
