CICG president attends meeting on China-ASEAN short video contest

Du Zhanyuan, president of China International Communications Group (CICG), met with representatives of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on Monday in Nanning, southern China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

The meeting took place ahead of the awards ceremony for the Fourth ASEAN-China "Friendship and Cooperation" Short Video Contest, set to take place Tuesday in Nanning. Government officials and diplomats from ASEAN countries to China also attended, along with representatives of media organizations.

Du expressed his appreciation for the support of ASEAN countries for the short video competition, and reflected on the fruitful achievements in cultural exchanges between CICG and ASEAN nations.

He also emphasized CICG's commitment to deepening cooperation in culture, media and youth dialogues with these countries, with the aim of enhancing mutual understanding among people from ASEAN nations.

Somphone Sichaleune, the Lao ambassador to China, said that both China and ASEAN countries have achieved long-term development and stability through the building of the China-ASEAN community with a shared future.

The ambassador encouraged all involved parties to utilize the potential of the short video competition to deepen people-to-people exchanges and enhance mutual understanding between China and ASEAN nations, to inject new impetus into cooperation among the countries.

CICG will co-host the awards ceremony on Tuesday.
