Fuzhou holds book launch for city biography

A new book titled "Fuzhou: The Biography" was unveiled at a launch event in Fuzhou, southeastern China's Fujian province, on Wednesday.

Lu Cairong, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), attended the event and delivered a speech.

Lu said that the book effectively encapsulates the history of Fuzhou and underscores the city's importance as a pivotal hub along the Maritime Silk Road, skillfully blending historical facts with literary storytelling.

He noted that city biographies like this provide valuable insights into successful governance practices, and thus contribute to the prosperity of cities and the improvement of people's livelihoods.

Lu Meisong, one of the authors of the book, said the book is a product of collective work of experts from different fields of culture and history. The rich historical facts and literary techniques make the book a masterpiece in documenting Fuzhou's development. 

The book is part of the CICG-initiated "Biographies of Silk Road Cities" series, the world's first collection that explores the distinctive culture and history of cities along the Belt and Road.
