CICG president meets leader of Universal Esperanto Association

Du Zhanyuan, president of China International Communications Group (CICG), met with Duncan Charters, president of the Universal Esperanto Association (UEA), on Friday in Beijing. Vice presidents of CICG Liu Dawei and Yu Tao attended the meeting.

Du introduced CICG's efforts in promoting Esperanto over the years, and said that the language is of unique significance in promoting mutual learning among different civilizations.

CICG will deepen cooperation with the UEA in translation and publishing, international communications, and talent cultivation, and capitalize on the role of Esperanto in facilitating cultural exchange among different countries, Du said.

Charters praised the role of CICG in supporting the development of Esperanto, and said that the UEA will deepen cooperation with CICG in the fields of international communications and Esperanto education, so as to reduce language barriers and enhance mutual understanding among cultures of different countries.

The UEA is an international organization of Esperanto speakers based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
