Forum explores cultural exchange to enhance people's well-being

The "Benefiting All Mankind: Dialogue with the Silk Road" Forum was held on Wednesday, both in person and online.

Themed "Inheriting the Silk Road Culture, Jointly Promoting People's Well-Being," the forum brought together representatives from governments, think tanks, and business organizations worldwide to discuss ways to promote people-to-people connectivity among countries and regions along the Silk Road. The goal is to gather wisdom and strength for building a global community of shared future.

During his speech, Gao Anming, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), mentioned that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has brought the hearts of people closer between China and its partner countries, fostering deeper cross-cultural exchange among civilizations. He emphasized that CICG, which is dedicated to cultural exchange between China and the world, will continue supporting its subsidiaries to carry out cooperation with think tanks from other countries in terms of BRI-themed dialogues and knowledge sharing.

Mushahid Hussain Sayed, chairman of the Pakistan Senate Defense Committee and chairman of the Pakistan-China Institute, said that the BRI is the most significant initiative of the 21st century. Its flagship projects, such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, have played a crucial role in lifting 400 million people worldwide out of poverty. He emphasized that as a new platform for international cooperation, the BRI will experience even greater development prospects, guided by the principles of extensive consultation, joint efforts, and shared benefits.

Serik Nugerbekov, head of the G-Global International Secretariat, a Kazakhstan-based international platform, said that in a world marked by conflicts, wars, and a declining influence of international organizations like the U.N., the global community must establish more non-governmental exchange platforms to promote people-to-people diplomacy and the development of the BRI.

The event was co-hosted by several organizations, including the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies under CICG, the Pakistan-China Institute, the G-Global International Secretariat, the Indonesia-China Friendship Association, the Europe-Asia Center, the Belt and Road Cooperation Research Center in Thailand, the Han Culture Centre Malaysia, and the Center for International Cultural Communication under CICG, among others.
