CICG Vice President Gao Anming said at the ceremony that foreign youth in China witness China's development, experience Chinese culture firsthand, and therefore can tell China's stories well and participate in mutual learning and exchange between Chinese and other civilizations.

As a comprehensive international communication organization, CICG has been committed to promoting exchange between Chinese and foreign youths and it will further enhance cooperation with domestic and foreign institutions to boost people-to-people exchange through translation and publication, academic research, and dialogue, Gao said.

Gao added he hopes that the awards winners will explore more of China, make friends in China, and share their experience in China with the rest of the world.

The contest is a spinoff of the Panda Cup Essay Contest, which is a signature event for boosting exchange and deepening friendship between Chinese and foreign youths.

Launched in August, the inaugural Panda Cup Foreign Student Essay Contest was initiated by CICG and the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Zhejiang Provincial Committee, hosted by CICG Asia-Pacific and Foreign Languages Press, and organized by Communication University of Zhejiang.
