China International Communications Group (CICG) is committed to promoting language service and facilitating the development of language service export bases, in order to boost China's cultural strength, said Liu Dawei, vice president of CICG, at a meeting on Nov. 15.

China identified the first batch of 14 language service export bases in March 2022, with the aim to boost the language service industry and extend its reach to foreign countries.

Liu emphasized the importance of language service export bases for promoting cultural development and improving China's strength in international communication.

He said that CICG will cooperate with relevant departments to enhance coordination and communication, support China International Book Trading Corporation under CICG in convening joint meetings of export bases, and foster the distinctive, innovative, and high-quality development of all language service export bases.

In addition, a language service website built by CICG was unveiled at the event. The website will become an information platform for the bases to conduct exchange and communication.

Over 100 guests attended the event, including government officials from the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Education, as well as representatives from Translators Association of China, China Association of Trade in Services, and the 14 export bases.
