Experts, scholars shed light on cultural exchange, world peace
More than 150 experts and scholars from China, European countries, and the U.S. gathered Monday for the China-Europe-America Think Tank Cooperation Forum in Paris, France, to conduct discussions on cultural exchange, peace, and sustainable development.

Laurent Fabius, president of the French Constitutional Council and former French prime minister, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He highlighted the necessity for China, European countries, and the U.S. to strengthen cooperation, respect the interests of all countries, and practice real multilateralism, so as to realize sustainable development with high quality.
Fabius said France has always regarded China as an important partner in dealing with major global issues and crises. He said the two countries should enhance cooperation in various fields including cultural exchange, tourism, climate action, and the protection of biodiversity.
He also called for more cooperation among China, Europe, and the U.S. to better address global challenges and jointly build a peaceful, sustainable, and resilient world.

Du Zhanyuan, president of China International Communications Group (CICG), said the think tanks in China and France should step up efforts to gather wisdom and shed light on the current world of uncertainty. He said China and France are both countries with time-honored culture and history, and the dialogues between the two countries are conducive to deepening mutual understanding among people in two sides and promoting peace and stability worldwide.
Du said the forum could be a platform to enhance mutual learning among civilizations and contribute wisdom to the peaceful development of the world.

Fu Ying, a former Chinese ambassador to the U.K., said China has conducted comprehensive cooperation with France and other European countries since the reform and opening up, delivering tangible benefits to people of different countries. She said that since China and European countries share many common interests, both sides should facilitate exchanges to deal with issues of common concern, and play a vital role in building a community with a shared future for mankind.
In addition to the opening event, the forum also featured four thematic sessions on the Olympic spirit, global security and development, mutual learning among civilizations, and economic cooperation.
The forum was jointly organized by the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies under CICG and the China-Europe-America Global Initiative.
