Lu Cairong, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), attended the event and delivered a keynote speech.

Lu said the "Biographies of Silk Road Cities" series launched by CICG is a major cultural project that contributes to the Belt and Road Initiative and that it served as a vivid example of the role of books in promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

CICG will continue to expand cooperation with partner countries along the Belt and Road, facilitate people-to-people ties among countries, and make more efforts in publishing, translation, and international communications, aiming to play a larger role in the Belt and Road development, Lu said.

The "Biographies of Silk Road Cities" series is the world's first book series that explores the distinctive cultures and histories of cities along the Belt and Road route.
