CICG executive attends book reading event in Dominican Republic

A book reading event themed on Chinese books and culture was held Tuesday in the Santo Domingo Institute of Technology in the Dominican Republic, aiming to promote Dominican people's understanding of China.

Lu Cairong, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), attended and addressed the event. He said cultural exchange and mutual learning underpin cooperation, mutual trust, and friendship between people of different countries. CICG is ready to work with all parties to promote peace and development and build a global community with a shared future, Lu said.

After the event, Lu visited the Chinese Book Center at the library of the institute, and held a talk with the director of the library. Lu hailed the role of the book center in promoting cultural exchange between China and the Dominican Republic, and said he hopes the book center will continue to host cultural activities so that more Dominican people can learn about Chinese culture.

Lu also paid a visit to the Confucius Institute of the Santo Domingo Institute of Technology, and talked with the Chinese dean of the Confucius Institute. Lu introduced CICG's work in international communication, and praised the institute's efforts in Chinese language teaching and promoting cultural exchange between the two countries. 

The book reading event was hosted by Sinolingua Press under CICG and the Santo Domingo Institute of Technology.
