Seminar on 'Biographies of Silk Road Cities' held in Beijing

A seminar on "Biographies of Silk Road Cities" was held in Beijing on Monday to discuss urban civilization under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Jiang Jianguo, a member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and deputy director of the National Ethnic and Religious Committee under the CPPCC National Committee, attended the seminar and delivered a speech. 

Jiang said that the BRI is a vivid example of building a global community of shared future. He said that the publication of the "Biographies of Silk Road Cities" series by China International Communications Group (CICG) promotes the Silk Road spirit of peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, and mutual learning and mutual benefit.

CICG President Du Zhanyuan said in his speech that the BRI has become a widely recognized international public good and the largest international cooperation platform in the past 10 years. He said that the book series is a major cultural project initiated by CICG to promote BRI cooperation. It is also an innovative practice to implement the Global Civilization Initiative and enhance mutual learning among civilizations.

The seminar featured speakers from home and abroad, including the authors of the book series. The guests engaged in dialogue and shared stories about cities along the Belt and Road route as well as their insights on the BRI.

The book series is the first and only comprehensive collection of city biographies in the international publishing industry. The series aims to promote the BRI and the building of a global community of shared future. It also seeks to enhance mutual understanding and cultural exchange among the countries and regions along the Belt and Road route. To date, the series has included more than 60 city biographies in both Chinese and foreign languages.
