A new book titled "Wuwei: The Biography" was unveiled Wednesday in Wuwei, northwestern China's Gansu province.
Lu Cairong, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), addressed the book launch. He said Wuwei is quite known for a national treasure, known as "Bronze Galloping Horse Treading on a Flying Swallow," from the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220). The bronze statue, unearthed in Wuwei in 1969, has now become a trademark for Chinese tourism.

Prior to this book launch, Lu also attended a seminar on the biographical book about Zhangye, another city of Gansu province, which has been an important commercial hub and a strategic node city along the Silk Road since ancient times.
With beautiful language and profound thoughts, the two books give readers a glimpse into the history, social development and stories of the two cities, as well as their instrumental roles in preserving Chinese civilization, Lu said.
The English versions of the two volumes are in preparation, which will help the books reach out to a broader audience, Lu added.
The two books are part of the world's first book series that explores the distinctive cultures and histories of cities along the Belt and Road route.
