2nd China-Brazil Forum for Exchange and Mutual Learning held in Sao Paulo

The 2nd China-Brazil Forum for Exchange and Mutual Learning was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Sept. 16. 

Themed on "New Consensus, New Cooperation, New Future," the event gathered about 100 representatives from government agencies, think tanks, and media organizations to talk about cooperation and mutual learning between the two countries.

Liu Dawei, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), attended the event and delivered a speech. Liu said the forum was of profound significance as this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of strategic partnership between China and Brazil. 

Liu said both countries should explore new ways of mutual learning among different civilizations, give full play to the role of media organizations, think tanks, and enterprises, and adopt new technologies to promote cultural exchange between the two countries.

Vinicius Gurtler, coordinator of multilateral affairs and international cooperation at the Ministry of Culture of Brazil, said cultural exchange is equally as important as economic and trade cooperation in the two countries' bilateral relationship. Gurtler said people-to-people exchange is conducive to further improving bilateral relations, and he called on more efforts to promote mutual understanding between China and Brazil.

Moreover, representatives from media organizations and universities held in-depth discussions on the topics of the role of media, youth development, and education cooperation.

In addition, the magazine China Today issued a Portuguese-language special edition on China-Brazil ties at the event. Paintings and calligraphy works centering on China-Brazil friendship were also showcased.

The forum was co-hosted by the Center for the Americas under CICG and the Getulio Vargas Foundation of Brazil.
