Kazakhstan's Culture Day was held Wednesday at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Beijing. Lu Cairong, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), attended the event at the invitation of the Kazakh Embassy in China.

During Lu's visit to Kazakhstan this April, CICG released biographical books about three cities of Kazakhstan — Alma-Ata, Turkistan, and Taraz. Jointly published by New Star Press under CICG and Kazakhstan's Foliant Publishing House, the books are part of a collection of biographies of cities along the Belt and Road route. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev wrote a foreword for them.

The books are an important contribution to enhancing mutual understanding and cultural exchange between China and Kazakhstan.

The Culture Day event featured performances of Kazakh folk ensemble Turan and exhibitions of Kazakh clothing, handicrafts, traditional rituals, and cuisine.

Diplomats from SCO member states, officials from China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, scholars, and representatives from culture, art, and media communities were also present at the event.
