Forum on translation, international communication held in Beijing

A forum on building strength in translation and international communication was held Friday in Beijing.

Du Zhanyuan, president of China International Communications Group (CICG) and the Translation Association of China, delivered a keynote speech at the forum. Du highlighted CICG's innovative efforts with regard to translation and international communication in the past year.

He emphasized CICG's commitment to translating and publishing major Party and government documents, improving translation task coordination, and enhancing the organization and implementation of key national translation projects. 

Du said CICG will earnestly advance the international communication project and the overseas publishing project to promote Chinese civilization. CICG will also develop a team of high-caliber translation professionals, offer accurate and standardized translations for major political terms, and enhance industry standards and certification systems, in order to foster the healthy development of the translation industry.

International communication experts Huang Youyi and David Ferguson also delivered keynote speeches at the forum, which was chaired by CICG Vice President Lu Cairong.

The forum included three panel discussions covering themes like translation practices and standards, technology-powered capacity building for translation and international communication, and the cultivation of top translation professionals to enhance the global presence of Chinese civilization.
