CICG executive attends 2023 World Canal Cities Forum

The 2023 World Canal Cities Forum was held in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province, on Thursday. Lu Cairong, vice president of China International Communications Group (CICG), attended the forum and delivered a speech at the sub-forum on the integration of cultural and tourism industries.

During his address, Lu emphasized the need for canal cities to explore innovative tourism approaches and strategies to establish distinctive brands that align with their unique characteristics. He also stressed the importance of policy support and effective management to facilitate the integration of the cultural and tourism sector with other related industries.

Moreover, Lu encouraged canal cities to embrace new technologies to develop more innovative cultural and tourism products, speed up the digitalization process, and foster stronger collaboration with other canal cities through international promotions and exchanges.

Co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, the forum was centered on the theme of heritage preservation and green and low-carbon development of canal cities. Discussions included topics such as preserving cultural heritage, ecological and environmental preservation and restoration, as well as strategies for integrating cultural and tourism industries.
