A China Day event was recently held in Turin, Italy at the 108th World Esperanto Congress.

The event featured a series of activities to promote Chinese culture, such as a photo exhibition capturing cultural heritage of ethnic groups in China as well as an exhibition on the Chinese written language. It also introduced the development of Esperanto in China and promoted China-themed books.

The event was held under the guidance of the Universal Esperanto Association (UEA) and China International Communications Group (CICG), and organized by the China Esperanto League (CEL), a CICG's affiliated association, and CICG's subsidiaries— the Center for Asia-Pacific and Foreign Languages Press.

In his speech, Duncan Charters, president of UEA, commended the CEL for being one of the most influential Esperanto associations worldwide dedicated to promoting cultural exchange through Esperanto. Charters said the CEL's work is essential for UEA, and expressed his hope for deepening cooperation on the development of Esperanto between China and UEA.

Chen Wenge, vice president of the CEL, delivered a speech at the event. He said that the World Esperanto Congress serves as a special platform for fostering mutual learning, understanding, and cooperation among different countries and ethnic groups. He said he hopes that through the China Day event, the participants would gain deeper insights into the mutual learning and understanding between Chinese and foreign cultures.

Participants at the event agreed that it increased their understanding of Chinese culture, as well as China's contribution to the world's development.

More than 80 people attended the China Day event, including members of the CEL delegation and participants in the 108th World Esperanto Congress.
