Forum on Global Human Rights Governance opens in Beijing

The Forum on Global Human Rights Governance opened in Beijing on Wednesday. Du Zhanyuan, president of China International Communications Group (CICG), attended the opening ceremony. Yu Tao, vice president of CICG, made a keynote speech at a parallel session.

The forum is attended by over 300 participants from nearly 100 countries and international organizations, including United Nations agencies.

Participants called for concerted efforts to address challenges facing global human rights governance. They also stressed the need to reach the broadest possible consensus on human rights governance and enhance the well-being of people around the world.

The forum is jointly hosted by the State Council Information Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the China International Development Cooperation Agency. The Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies and the China Center for International Communication Development under CICG organized two of the forum's five parallel sessions.
