Biographical book of Panama City debuts in Beijing

A new book titled "The Biography of Panama City" published by Foreign Languages Press under China International Communications Group (CICG) was launched in Beijing on Wednesday.

The event was jointly organized by CICG and the Embassy of Panama in China. It brought together over 60 guests from government agencies, academia, and the literature and art field.

Lu Cairong, vice president of CICG, attended the event and delivered a speech.

Lu said that, as this year marks the sixth anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Panama, the release of this new book is of special significance and will facilitate mutual learning between the two civilizations.

The book will allow people of the two countries to learn more about each other and open up a fresh outlook of cultural exchanges among countries and regions along the Belt and Road, Lu added.

Leonardo Kam, ambassador of Panama to China, said the book will open a new door for the Chinese people to discover and explore more about the capital city of Panama.

Kam said he expects the new book to inspire more people to visit Panama City and experience the city firsthand.

As the two countries have jointly participated in the building of the new model of international relations, the book will be conductive to enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between people of the two countries, said Yu Xi, author of the book.

"The Biography of Panama City" is part of a collection of biographies of over 120 cities along the Belt and Road. It is also the first book published in China to comprehensively introduce the capital city of Panama.
